Machine Tool Direct was formed in 2006, since then the business has gone from strength to strength. The initial business model was to create a platform for all used cnc machine dealers to advertise their stock on and elimate the difficulty of searching through hundreds of individual websites trying to find the ideal machine. Our aim was to position MTD at the top of 'google' for 'cnc machines', then all buyers and sellers would have one website to visit for machine tools. As of August 2010

The introduction of MTD excited new cnc machine suppliers aswell, in fact this is now our core business, MTD is the only advertising medium in the UK that lists in stock 'new cnc machines'. Companies including Mills CNC, Hurco, Haas, Star, Ward Hi Tech, Dugards, XYZ, Goratu, Victor Europe and many others have devoted a substantial amount of their annual advertising budget towards internet based advertising, MTD being a big part of it.

MTD demonstrates it engineering based background by introducing a brand new cycle time calculation service. A novel idea actually giving to us by a loyal MTD fan, you can now upload your engineering drawings to our website, this will then be made available to a hat full of new machine dealers, who in return will respond to your request - the aim? another tool developed to make like easy for engineers, why send your request to a small audience indivdually, do it all, once discreetly using our service. MTD WANTED Launched
In March we launched our new Wanted page. You can now list your wanted items dynamically on MTD. On most of our core pages you will notice a wanted box, fill in the box and submit and your wanted will automatically appear on the WANTED page. We are already seeing new additions from engineers everyday.

MTD Forum Launched
Machine Tool Direct now includes a great new forum. This was originally launched in January 2009 as a test to see whether the market both wanted and would use it. After three months it was apparent the answer to both these questions was yes. We then took the decision to wait for the new website to introduce the new manufacturing social networking tool. On day one we had over 200 visitors, use it to promote, discuss and find wanteds.

The new Machine Tool Direct website continued to attract 1000's of visitors during January, some of these were as a direct result of our SERP's, others were a combination of our returning users, traffic from our email newsletter and click throughs thanks to our 'Google News' status. Since 2008 we have qualified and provided Google with news articles. In January we continued to grow within their index, Google recorded many of our published news articles as worthy worldwide 'Google stories'.

All the features function in the same fashion, with heaps of new features on the way. Each of our customers now has their own control panel 'cockpit' that gives them full accessibility to add listings, add banners and send email marketing campaigns. This site is set to take Machine Tool and Engineering promotion into the next decade.

Hurco - Email marketing
Hurco had an Open house during the month of December which was a great success, the turnout far outweighed what was expected for what is notoriously a quiet time of the year. Prior to the event MTD provided Hurco with an email broadcast promoting not only the event but certain special offers to, it was a great success. Hurco are now subsequently channeling a lot of effort in this area during 2010 of which MTD will manage.
