Machining Cavities for the Mould and Die Industry using New CNC Milling Cutters

TaeguTec has now launched its new ChasePlusMill Mini line of CNC milling cutters to meet the demands of the mould and die industry for increased productivity and reduced cycle times with stable cutting conditions.

Developed in line with the company’s extensive research and development program that continually works with global customers the new line of cutters compliments TaeguTec’s already renowned ChasePlusMill series. The new ChasePlusMill Mini line incorporates small s that can be mounted in higher quantities to give a closer tooth pitch. This drastically improves productivity and feed rates. These attractive attributes are complimented with a range of s that have four cutting edges per to provide an economical solution.

The new ChasePlusMill Mini line is a flexible cutter range that can replace a number of cutters with its ability to conduct anything from facing to shouldering, straight ramping, helical ramping and cavity machining. To further enhance productivity rates, the geometry of the cutter and its corresponding s provide excellent chip evacuation and low cutting forces that have a low tendency to chipping and this is further enhanced with an internal coolant system.

The exciting new series has shank diameter options of 16, 20, 25 and 32mm with a corresponding cutting diameter of 16, 20, 21, 25, 26, 30, 32, 33 and 40mm with anything from two to six s per cutter depending upon diameter ion. The series has an overall shank length from 100 to 220mm that connects with either a modular or face mill type cutting head.

Regardless of cutting head, the new series is currently available with TaeguTec’s TT9080, TT8030 and TT7080 coated grades. This enables the cutter to comfortably machine carbon steels, alloy steels, pre-hardened, hardened, stainless and mould and die steels as well as cast iron with a hardness level beyond 50HRc. The remarkable productivity of the ChasePlusMill Mini line sees it work at cutting speeds from 80 to 220m/min with a 1mm feed per tooth rate on depths of cut up to 1mm.
