Precision engineering firm partners with Norton
Story added 07 November 2008.
Machine tool dealers Mills Manufacturing Technology has entered a technical partnership with Norton Motorcycles UK.
The deal is aimed at helping to re-launch the Norton brand in the UK and throughout the world.
Under the agreement, the
precision engineering firm will help the motorcycle brand develop, refine and manufacture three new engines ready for production at Norton's Donington Park facility next year.
Mills sales and marketing director Dave Andrew explains: "To do this we will work closely, in the first instance, with UK
precision engineering subcontract companies that will become involved in Norton's supply and value chains."
These firms will be supplied with the latest and most advanced Doosan
CNC machining tools, as well as the technical back-up and applications services of Mills.
Norton is developing a works race team for the coming season and will be launching a number of road motorbikes.
Earlier this week, Warwickshire-based Mills revealed that sales of Doosan
CNC machining tools have passed the 300 unit mark.
The achievement was described as "tremendous" by Mr Andrew.
